Indigenous Lands:

The boundaries of the Indigenous lands come from the U.S. Department of the Interior Department of Indian Affairs Land Area Representation Dataset.

The U.S. government officially recognizes 573 tribes in the contiguous 48 states and Alaska, but not all Federally-recognized tribes have a designated land area representation (LAR) therefore, they may not have an associated land area represented in the land area dataset.

TNC’s Resilient and Connected Network analysis was conducted throughout the United States and parts of Canada using publicly available data and quantitative analysis. However, the results have not yet been reviewed by members of the sovereign indigenous nations. While we solicit review, we have greyed-out and password protected the indigenous lands. For more information or to request password access to the data on these lands please contact crcs@tnc.org
